More about the environment of B&B de Bondheerd

Bed & Breakfast de Bondheerd is located in the outskirts of Tynaarlo, only a few minutes by car from the cities of Groningen and Assen.

The village of Tynaarlo itself houses one Dolmen, a 5000 year old sign of life from our distant forefathers. The mighty stones of this dolmen are ingeniously stacked on each other centuries ago by the peoples living here to give their dead a safe haven.

Groningen, as a student city, will certainly attract you to visit. It is a lively, historic city where there is always something to do. Attractions like it's Groninger Museum, the Martinichurc and -tower and the Grote Markt are well worth a visit. But also the main station, from where you can board the train to visit the whole of the Netherlands, with the station square on which the famous statue of "peerd van Ome Loeks" stands are interesting to view. And try a cruise through the canals, it gives a totally different picture of the city

Assen is a medium-sized provincial city, with a small but attractive center. In Assen you can visit the Drents Museum where besides often beautiful exhibitions a number of bog-bodys can also be seen, including that of "The girl of Yde". Assen is also the place of the Dutch TT, the annual motorcycle festival on the circuit just outside the city and about 10 minutes drive from our farm.

In addition to these two cities, the B & B is also close to the village of Zuidlaren, world famous for theZuidlaarder Horse market which is held every year in October and attracts thousands of visitors. But how about Berend Botje, the famous song about a historic person who went "out sailing". Zuidlaren also offers the Village Church dating from 1269, a Havezathe from the 17th century and the Windmill-museum "de Wachter".

It is about 20 minutes drive toCamp Westerbork, the memorial center on the persecution of Jews in the Netherlands in the Second World War. A visit is impressive and more than worth it!

For"Bric&Brac" you can visit the fleemarket in Eelde, which is held every Saturday in the winter period opposite the airport.

But what attracts us the most is the beautiful nature of our part of the Netherlands. Drenthe is known for its beautiful walking and cycling opportunities. From your room you have countless possibilities to discover the surroundings and view the beauty of the landscape.
